Why did you choose healthcare as a career path: I decided to go into nursing right after high school because I knew it would provide job security and stability. Over the course of my twelve years as a registered nurse in various jobs, I became aware of a lack of treatment option, resources, and compassion for patients with mental illness. To give the much-needed care and compassion and lessen the stigma associated with mental illness, I made the decision to extend my studies and pursue a career as a psychiatric mental health nurse practitioner.
