Primary responsibilities include but are not limited to:
  • Completes payment entry in a timely and accurate manner including posting payments to practice management system for all lines of business.
  • Identifies, researches, and ensures timely processing of payments and error corrections, ensuring appropriate documentation of payments, allowances, denial, rejections, etc. are recorded on individual accounts system (live checks within 48 hours, Online Credit Card payments, as provided by the front desk, the next business day, EFT deposits within 72 hours)
  • Records batch totals with date and initials on payment receipt spreadsheet
  • Reconciles with accounting spreadsheet, posting to actual entry in order to identify and reconcile any discrepancies, ensuring that payment posting functions are accurate and performed on a timely basis
  • Verifies all EFT deposits and scanned checks have been posted by month end, initiates required research with appropriate billing representative for any items that cannot be posted by month end. Follows up to ensure these items are resolved within 7 working days once given to the appropriate billing representative.
  • Properly communicates and documents payment denials in the practice management system to include posting and scanning no pay EOBs.
  • Identifies any payments not being paid at the allowed/contracted amount and communicates this to the appropriate billing representative – AR and/or Director.
  • Reconcile all revenue posted to ensure timely/accurate entries while meeting monthly deadlines.
  • Maintain and update clearinghouse portal to allow electronic submission and receipt of claims, ERAs, and EFTs as allowed by clearing house.
  • Maintains thorough knowledge of third party payment applications, requirements, and regulatory guidelines at the federal, state, and local levels.
  • Performs other duties as assigned by Director of Revenue Cycle Mgmt. &Billing
  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • Knowledge of current CPT & ICD 10 coding
  • Understands revenue cycle of a medical practice.
  • Ability to prioritize daily task functions, meet deadlines, work with senior management.
  • 1-year experience in health care claims posting, including knowledge of health plan regulations and processes with high volume and/or multiple accounts.
  • Experience with contacting and follow up with insurance carriers.
  • Experience working with a broad range of payers.
  • Must have strong mathematical skills evidenced by a prior history of month end and quarter end close in prior roles.
  • Must be proficient with Microsoft Excel and other Microsoft Office applications.
